    How time flies...

It has officially been 17 months today.

I had actually lost track of time and I didn't even know how many months it had been until Isaac told me last night.

Random, huh? I was quite good at keeping track up until we hit 1 year. Then I kinda lost count. Probably goes to show that I am no good with numbers after 12...or something.

I still don't think I'm all THAT well. Getting tired really easily and glands are up again - they are actually probably the worst that they've been in awhile. It doesn't help that every time I try to do some video editing work computers/technology keep conspiring to foil me.

They don't seem to realise that I'm on a deadline!! Argh!

I really need to get out of bed.

I'm also really taken by this house on TradeMe. If it was going up for rent and being available some time in Feb next year I'd seriously be tempted! I'm usually quite hard to please with houses. But I do like this one!

The year keeps trucking forward at a scary pace. Soon it will be quite important for me to actually have a house (that is not one belonging to my parents!) to move into...

    Crazy times.

    Sick

    I hate being sick.

Yesterday I came home early from work because I was feeling all shivery and yucky. Today I feel better but I have the WORST taste in the back of my mouth. Gross!

I am currently addicted to tests on Okcupid.com. This is bad, very, very bad!!!

    Nostalgia

Lately at work I find myself missing the vibe that NAMAHOH had.

We were ever the dream team. And we had a LOT of fun being the dream team. Better still, we were GOOD at what we did.

Which is more than I can say for A LOT of people who I currently work with. It's not a hard job, and yet people struggle. Worse still, the flail around. I'll get an eye taken out by one of the flailing arms if I'm not careful!

Work used to be mostly fun, a little tedious. Now that is reversed. My current TL is great, and if I'm not with the previous TL then I'd want to be with this TL...but the team...

NAMAHOH was wicked cool, we even had an awesome NAME.

Xtreme doesn't quite have the same ring to it. We sound like a bad WWF wrestler!

    Skies above!

    We went flying yesterday!

Naturally, we weren't the ones that did the flying. But we were the content passengers in the back of the 6 seater plane.

We flew all the way to Kaikoura and back! We didn't land - but we did circle low to see if we could spot any dolphins and/or whales. Alas they did not choose to reveal themselves to us...but it was still fun!

    It's Kaikoura!

It's honestly a whole different perspective up there. The mountains simply look HUGE. It's like you don't really know the lay of the land till you're up there! I think the pictures speak for themselves really:

    Awesome eh???

    The Babysat!

Isaac is a dork! I swear he's scaring Manaia. Either that or she was just quite tired. Which she was. Haha.

Babysat for Soraya last night when she went to go see Brooklyn's production. Usually Manaia can be a bit of a handful, but because she was tired she was relatively well behaved. And I didn't have to do too much because Isaac managed to quite successfully entertain her when I wasn't.

See? Aww....aren't they cute? They were doing Tracy's jigsaw puzzles. Usually you can't keep her attention on them for more than 10 minutes. But Isaac managed! Awww....he will be a great dad one day. (I'm a geek)

Anyway...she was quite happy to pose for photos with all of us. (All three of us...) DESPITE the fact that she looks grumpy in this photo with me :P

It's probably because we are all dorks and we scare her! Haha. She's getting so chatty though and most of what she says is extremely funny. I think she likes coming round because we give her things that she wouldn't normally get all the time at home. Yes, we probably spoil her.

There was an open packet of chips on the coffee table and she was just helping herself to them like they were hers! Lol. And then she turns to me and says "Where's the milo?" It took some effort not to laugh.

    She's just a wee cutie!

It almost makes me want to have kids...almost!

    Love, love, love

I have been thinking about love lately.

And that song from Love Actually. You know the one.

    Or maybe you don't.

    But I do.

Anyway. According to the song, "all you need is love". (I consider myself an expert on said song because we sang it for Party in the Park last year - additionally, Izook and I will be working on the PitP website this year so watch this space! But I digress...)

I disagree with this. I don't think that ALL you need is love. That's just yet another of the sappy, mindless drivel that the media likes to feed us. Now, believe me, I'm not bitter. I just think that there are so many somewhat deluded people out there thinking that love is easy.

I'm not afraid to admit that there are times when love is easy. And those times are very, very nice indeed. But you can't tell me that love is "easy" for everyone all the time. That's a load of bollocks.

    No really.

Sometimes I think we are all so caught up in what everyone perceives "love" is that when it doesn't meet our expectations we get let down and things fall to pieces.

And those are my thoughts for today.

    Friday nights

My word we are nerdy! Haha...this is us, having eaten and drunk, (not drunk but having been drinking...if that makes sense!) trying to download a clip of a little girl singing on Britan's Got Talent.

Fun times...we gathered, ate lots (naturally!), drank lots and played boggle.

And gave Benni loving! Lots of loving! (But not in THAT way...) Poor Benni, he's so neglected at home with just Isaac - who's never there. So we gave him LOTS of attention on Friday.

Even Mel gave him love! And she doesn't even like animals. But Benni is so cute that no one can resist his puppy eyes...

    See:

    He's just a wee puppy!!!

Anyway, was possibly the MOST relaxing weekend in ages. It was great, just good times with friends and Isaac managed to watch lots of rugby....yay....haha.

And we had gorgeous weather. Simply gorgeous. I can't wait for summer :)

I even fell asleep in the sun at Isaac's on Sunday. Man, it was good!

Anyway, there is too much facebooking in my life at the moment. Jem, Isaac and I have discovered the boggle application and we spend a LOT of time playing boggle with strangers online. I even got Mum onto it! And Isaac has even signed up to facebook - under a assumed name - so he can play.

We are nerds. Nerdy, nerdy, nerds.

And then it's back to work.

    And skies like this :)

I like living in the flat lands.

    Mr Woodcock

    Thursday, September 13

I was inordinately amused when I saw my face wash and conditioner in the shower this morning.

My face wash reads: Reduces shine visibly!

And my conditioner reads: Want to shine?

    We are people of contradictions!

Tonight is my first music practice as a musician rather than a vocalist. It's a little nerve-wracking! Lucky for me Steve is on drums, we've jammed together before so that makes me feel a LITTLE better.

And that was all I had to say - last day of the week! (For me, anyway!) I am thrilled :)

    Home front

Our house is a tip. Seriously. Everyone has just been so tired and stressed and overworked - yes, even over the weekend! - that nothing has been done. We are running out of food and there is stuff EVERYWHERE.

On the upside - after three days of trekking to Janma's house in Halswell - we can shower at home again!

Our landlord is incredibly inconvenient sometimes...I mean, yes, we had a crack in the shower floor, but it took THREE phone calls to get him to come over and then he sealed off the crack with a sealant that took three days to dry. If Jan hadn't been going to Australia for the week we would have been inconveniencing her terribly!

AND we told him we were probably going to move out in November and he seemed like he couldn't care less!

So...four bedroom place for rent in Hornby peoples!!!

    Monday, September 10

Nice, quiet weekend! It's probably the first one I've had in about a month - which is pretty crazy. Isaac was out with youth group on Saturday so I took the opportunity to go shopping! (An opportunity I wouldn't have if I hadn't helped work write that Unplanned Absenteeism business case...)

Got some new jeans, a new top and a new little dress/top thing.

    Score!!

And then watched some of the rugby - before I fell asleep - on Saturday night. To be honest it was a complete wipe out. There was no way we WEREN'T going to win, so it's probably a good thing I just went to sleep! Haha. I believe McCaw scored the first try like a minute into the game - or it least that's what it felt like!!

And now it's back to work. I can't wait till the end of the year. More because I can get away from work than anything else. I don't think I've had a proper holiday in about a year. Or at least that's what it feels like! Sucks. I cannot wait to find a new job either.

Of course, because I'm looking forward to this so much the time is just DRAGGING by. Typical!!!

    Pure musical magic

We've been playing Paul Simon on Monday nights. Dude - are the basslines EVER hard on that Graceland album of his! But it just sounds SO awesome. I can't believe Todd taught himself the basslines on all the songs on the album.

Sometimes, I wish I was black. I mean, seriously? Check the bass man out. He's freaking fantastic!

    Yet another addiction

I think I'm addicted to facebook. My profile page keeps growing. It really has to stop!!!

    But it's just so entertaining...

    Finally

I have finally, finally, finally watched The Sound of Music.

Most people wouldn't see this as a big deal, but I do. It's one of those movies that every man and his dog has seen...AND I HADN'T SEEN IT YET.

Worse still, even Isaac has seen it and he hasn't even seen Grease yet!!!

Anyway, I had extremely high expectations because everyone I know (except the boys) loves this movie, that and the songs are all classics!!

Note that I always think that it's a bad idea to start watching a movie with extremely high expectations. Thus, I found the beginning REALLY slow. So slow that I was actually starting to wonder what everyone else was always going on about!!

But it really does get better.

I was getting very tense at the end.

Turns out that it is based on a true story. Who knew? The Trapp Family Singers (as they were known in America) were quite famous back in the day. The toured the world and everything. And you can still visit the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont. Cool, eh? A real little Austrian lodge in...Canada!

I think it's awesome :) Naturally though some of their story is condensed and sanitized for the movie audience. Apparently the Austrians (?) made two movies out of the Trapp family story.

    Fun stuff.

    Death of the weekend

It's SPRIIING!!! You can tell because it's warmer and the sun seems to be hanging around for longer. You have no idea how happy this makes me :)

    Pine cones...

Weekend was awesome, caught some sounds at Fat Eddies on Friday night and just kept running into people - most of whom I hadn't seen in AGES! They do sweet, sweet vodka and cranberry there - WAY too easy to drink. Jem tried some of mine and said "That's incredibly strong!" To which I replied "I didn't even notice!"

    Muwhaha - alkie!

Father's day shopping on Saturday and then took the folks out for tea at Rossendale on Sunday night. REALLY good food there. It was awesome :) They do a brilliant Sav Blanc there too...

Such an alcoholic weekend. Mel dropped off some expensive (but half empty) bottles on Saturday that are all gone too!

    Mmm...good wine :)
