Concert review: Bon Jovi
My voice is a little rough today. But Bon Jovi is awesome!! Seriously, I was so tired today but it was totally worth it. I was a little concerned that the majority of the songs would be from the spanking new Lost Highway album, but I needn't have worried. They did some of the new songs but they also did a WHOLE lot of their back catalogue songs as well. And there aren't many bands with a back catalogue like Bon Jovi.
I think the highlights of the night had to be: Shot Through the Heart and Living on a Prayer. Also, Ritchie Sambora soloing I'll Be There For You was pure gold. I tried to record them on my cellphone but we were reasonably far back and it failed miserably. Was a little upset (but not very!) that they didn't do Always - my very favorite Bon Jovi song. But the rocking version of Living of a Prayer did make up for it quite a lot!
That and the two encores. The crowd loved it! (As did I) Especially when he appeared in the Crusaders jersey. It was a shame the whole thing had to end. We were in the stands and at the end everyone was up and dancing. They are pure talent!! Sambora had some ROCKING guitar solos.
Plus, look how good Bon Jovi looks for his age:
DAMN!!
One more for luck...haha

Time moves on
I can't believe Heath Ledger is dead!!! Not that I know him or anything. It just seems a little unexpected and random. Like something out of the twilight zone.
I hope he didn't commit suicide, that would be WAY too sad. Especially for his little girl. You wouldn't want to grow up with that hanging over you. I can't imagine how his family and friends will be feeling right now...
So sad...
But I guess life goes one huh. New work is good. People are REALLY friendly and they are letting me take it slow which is great. (Especially since I am jet lagged!) I get ONE HOUR for work, which is as new to me as...something that is really new and shiny. I haven't had one hour lunches since school! Plus I am in the Square, so there is lots to do. I can sit in the sunshine, meet people for lunch or check out the Buskers Festival.
Incredible! I could get used to this...

Home sweet home
And 10 hours later I'm in yet another country! This one is a least familiar. Haha. Slept for approx four hours on the plane - which helped the flight go quickly. Also watched The Nanny Diaries which I have wanted to see for awhile.
Didn't stop me from crashing for another four-ish hours when I finally managed to get home though!
We left from the uber-new Terminal 3 in Singapore. Very fancy. Only opened a week and a half ago. We were also 16kgs overweight. Believe me?
Anyway, excessive baggage aside the flight was pretty standard. Better than standard when you consider Air Asia - which is what our last two flights were. But you get what you pay for I guess.
Is good to be home. Now the year REALLY starts. Tomorrow I need to get a WOF for my car, and set up a new mobile plan on Vodafone. Will hopefully meet Jennifer at some time as well to congratulate her on the impending nuptials. (YAY - nuptials!) Work starts on Wednesday and I'm pretty sure I have a hen's night this weekend. Bon Jovi concert on Sunday!!! YAY!!! Also must try to meet up with Mel and Loui somewhere in there. Jem is back on Saturday and we really also need to find a house to live in...fun fun.
Meanwhile, my room feels like it's full of so much crap and I want to clean it but everything is in boxes. Can't wait to find a new flat!

Back from Thailand
Back in Singapore now. Man, it's a weird weird feeling. You wake up in one country and then by the end of the day you're in another! It's just so random, all of a sudden you're in a whole new place with a different culture etc.
As an aside, I find airports sort of like this neutral zone, does anyone else find this? It's like you're neither here nor there. Like you're basically in between countries. Weird. I have been in three different airports in the last week. It's crazy!
Anyway, Thailand was an experience in itself! It's just insane, hot and smelly (if you're walking) and reasonably difficult to communicate well with anyone. But it was fun. We did LOTS of shopping in Bangkok - Isaac even got a suit made for relatively cheap - and were only attempted to be ripped off once be a taxi driver. But we managed. The first hostel we checked into (at $5 a night!) was not as awesome as we hoped it would be - bed like a stone tablet and barely a lock on the door - so we checked out after a night. We upgraded our living conditions to a place that charged $15 a night and had a deadlock and free breakfast! Stoked!
Phuket was awesome. We didn't didn't strike out on the hostel this time and it was a great place to stay. Lots of people. Everything was marginally more expensive than BKK but still not THAT expensive. Potong beach (where the tsunami hit) was not as awesome as anticipated.
But we did manage to take a boat out to Kainui island and squeeze in some snorkeling! It was awesome! (Excepting the fish that tried to eat my knee...) But, for that part of the trip I will let the photos speak for themselves...

Jet planes again
Leave for Thailand tomorrow. Am kind of looking forward to it and kind of apprehensive! But it should be fun :)
I am looking forward to home and yet a little sad that it's all coming to an end and I'll have to go to work again. Starting a new job, looking for a new home and battling with the ever-rising price of petrol! I guess then I'll feel like it's really 2008. Right now every thing feels a little suspended in time.
I miss my friends. And cheap wine. Haha.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I must be old...could barely even stay up to 12am last night. It probably would have been nice to ring in 2008 in some sort of spectacular party-type fashion. But I'm just too old - I've seen 23 new years...perhaps they just lose their glamor after awhile.
Anyway, we have been here for two weeks now - and this is the first time I've had the opportunity to sit down and blog.
Weird, huh? I hate how you actually find time to do stuff and then you just have nothing to say.
We've eaten A LOT since we've been here - what pigs!!! And we've seen some of the sights and done a LOT of shopping. Planning on hitting the zoo tomorrow - school holidays are finally over here. No more screaming kids!! Yay! But it has been fun. Has also been good to catch up with family as I really don't see them all that often. Also really good to meet family members that I have never met - namely Josh!!!
This is wee Joshie - and also David
He is currently my wee favorite! He is also currently in Hong Kong at the moment - but they'll be back on the 4th and hopefully we will see him and the family again before they head back to Perth.
Thailand really soon. Can't wait!! Despite slight fears that we will somehow be saddled up as drug mules. I shall take no parcels from people there.
