A horrible t-shirt in a shop window today.
It said: "Don't discriminate...hate everyone".
Isn't that terrible? It's trying to be funny, yet with all the bullsh*t and hate crimes and people - young people - being KILLED...it just seems ridiculously childish. It encourages behaviour that we shouldn't in ANY way encourage.

Zodiac
I had THE WORST night's sleep last night. Seriously, tossing and turning all night. We watched Zodiac before bed. Will NEVER do that again. I was so freaked out. I think it was made all the worse because it's based on real life AND they never conclusively proved who the murderer was.
FREAKY!!!!
Anyway, I seriously could not sleep. Or I'd doze off and then keep waking again because I'd have really weird dreams that I was at work and people were wanting to put mysterious insertions in the paper. And then I'd wake up and have to convince myself there wasn't a serial killer on the loose.
Yes, I am strange.
Anyway...Isaac and I bought a lounge suite yesterday. Brand new! It's a 3 piece suite, five seater - four of which are recliners! They are going to soil guard it for us for an extra $50 a seat. It was $300 off AND Harvey Norman are having a crazy weekend sale where they give you 18 months interest free and deferred payment and then another 18 months interest free! Which is basically 3 years interest free (which we can pay off easy!) AND no deposit! AND because I've already had a hire-purchase with them before it took like no time to set up.
I'm excited - it's our first really BIG purchase. It almost makes me wish I have a house to move it into! But all things in good time :)
Going shopping with Melsie today. Will be fun! I need some new work clothes!

Loving long weekends
I love long weekends. Have been so busy lately - every night this week we've had something on. (Excepting tonight, yay!) Basically am just exhausted. Crawled into bed last night at 10pm (after not one but two lots of work drinks) and was out until 8.30 this morning. ANNND I still haven't made it out of bed. I love laptops!
It has been a particularly trying week though. Every thing seems to go pear shaped in a long weekend at work due to earlier deadlines. Stressful! Plus top that off with one in our midst leaving us and the knowledge that we'll be short staffed for awhile...not fun. Somehow we power through anyway...
The last couple of weeks have been pretty tragic though. What with the seven people dying up north and Marie Davis' body finally being identified. It makes me wonder what the world is coming to. All these families are going through such a rough time. And that's just the ones we know about. Meanwhile the Edgeware Road trial has started and that makes me sad too. It sounds like such a debacle! All the fights and alcohol and everything just got out of hand. And again those girls families having to live through the whole thing.
It's just horrible. It makes me want to not read the paper - which I'm probably not supposed to say seeing as how I work there! But sometimes ignorance can be nicer. But probably not better.

Dramas...
Needless to say today has not quite gone the way I anticipated that it would. BUT...wedding dress?
Check!
Yay! I'm quite stoked as it was one that I really originally liked and we managed to get it for quite a lot cheaper - well actually the same price. But not second hand which is a bonus!
Anyway, so mum and I had a look round some stores etc and I called Isaac to see if he wanted to do lunch as mum's all by her lonesome today. And he tells me that he's been headbutted at soccer and one of his teeth is loose.
So we rush off to the emergency dentist and he puts the tooth back in and then says "Oh it's split at the back so you'll have to see a specialist". Naturally the specialist is on holiday, so it'll be another two weeks until we know. Meanwhile there's a 50-50 chance that his tooth will die. *sigh* So here's hoping (and praying) that the tooth doesn't die and that it'll fix itself up. Meanwhile he has a splint across his front teeth for the next four weeks.
It keeps bleeding though...which is worrying. But only very slightly and is probably all part of the healing process. Or at least that's what I like to think...but have put him to bed as he is extremely tired and a little down.
AND we have a 21st tonight...it's like everything has happened at once!!!

Thrilled
Future hubby has not one but two big bad job offers. And another two interviews this week. You have no idea what a load this is off my mind!
Well paying professional jobs even.
After close to two years of me being the only one on a steady income and fighting about the reasons why his boss should pay him on time and oh my goodness how will we pay for a whole wedding??! this is very welcome relief!
Higher pay bracket than me - but that's really to be expected I guess, given the size of his student loan!
And they'll even let him start later this year! Which is very good because it means that things won't be quite so tight in terms of the wedding and bond money and rent in advance and all those horrible nasty things being a grown up costs you.
Thank God :)

Sheesh!
It's THURSDAY tomorrow! I'm not entirely certain where the week went/is going! I'd like to say work but all the big important people that give us work to do at the Network and NABS seem to constantly be out of the office on print tours and stuff like that. So work is trickling through in dribs and drabs.
Yesterday was particularly slow!!! I spent most of the afternoon on the internet...
Sad, I know!!!
But I have updated our wedding register - yay!
Today we occupied ourselves by taking photos - of ourselves. We seemed to get particularly giggly over nothing in particular. Girls, right???? Either that or retards. I'll post the photos when I get them off my computer at work. Too funny!!!
Can't wait for the weekend - my first in Christchurch for awhile! Will make a nice change not having to pack things to go places and sleeping in not my bed. I love my bed, it's my favorite place in the whole world. It's snuggly!!!
Am surprisingly untired for the time of night. Weird.

Supposed to be getting ready to head out to Retreat. I think I'm packed but I can't help feeling like I've forgotten something.
Had work drinks tonight - good wine. Lol. Feel bit tipsy though and I really need to cook tea and eat something but don't feel like it!
Ah well, busy busy :P
I just need a week(end) off!!!

James Morrison & Deni Hines
So thanks to my speedy email skills I managed to score a double pass to James Morrison & Deni Hines JazzFest headline act.
And may I just say that it was awesome!!!
I really honestly believe that you have many opportunities to listen to two people - one of whom is widely accepted as one of the best Jazz artists in the world. James Morrison is incredible. Not only is he an amazing trumpeteer, he's pretty damn good on the piano and he's funny to boot!
Deni Hines (although I hadn't heard of her before last night) is one of Australia's foremost singers. She's been backing vocalist for INXS and Kylie Minogue and more recently she's collaborated wiht James on an album entitled The Other Woman. It features some seriously old school tracks from some of the Jazz greats - think Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin - plus some newer original Jazzed up tracks.
I have never seen a band with more groove. It probably helps that these two have been in "the biz" basically forever. But the whole band was incredible. The bass player - Phil, I believe his name is - had some of the fastest fingers I have ever seen. And the brass section made me want to learn a brass instrument. Deni has an amazing vocal technique. You could actually hear her slip from head voice into chest voice when she powers up her vocals.
If you get a chance - check out Deni's webpage which lets you listen to the full tracklist of the album, starting with I Only Have Eyes for You.
