    Ahh the Simpsons :)

    Simpsons Movie = good fun.

It was basically like a really long episode of the Simpsons. Which can be nothing but good. Long, but not TOO long - otherwise it might have gotten a little tedious.

It was definately worth the going though. Plenty of laughs abounded. I have to say that my favorite sequence would have to be Bart skateboarding naked through Springfield - very cleverly done!

Anyway, was fun times for a flat and associate outing. (Minus one flatmate.) Jem, Jen, Isaac and I hit up Starbucks after - not our usual hang out as we all prefer Coffee Culture and we soon learnt why! I ordered a mini cheese cake - which LOOKED good behind the counter but was basically impossible to eat as the only thing holding into together was this plastic wrapping that was virtually impossible to remove without destroying the fragile cake. In the end we had to get Jen's swiss army knife out and cut the cake free. But it was pretty munted by then!

Our hot chocolate was incredibly strong - to the point of almost being unbearable. It was like they'd used cocoa to make it. Maybe it's an American thing??? Jennifer's iced chocolate was more ice than chocolate. And not nice crushed ice either. Big, combined blocks of ice was more like it!

We were NOT impressed. Needless to say, the cheesecake looked better than it tasted as well! We won't be going back there anytime TOO soon. Rock on Coffee Culture - too bad it was closing when we got out for the movies.

Apart from that it was a pretty quiet weekend, if I do say so myself! We were supposed to be hanging with some of Izook's mates from Spreydon on Saturday night but the evil witch spawn of Satan was going to be there - so we gracefully bowed out of that one. (Moo ha ha!)

Probably a good thing as this weekend will be pretty full on with Wayne and Libby here to drag us kicking and screaming through boot camp :) Fun times.

I leave you with Spider Pig - the most awesomest pig ever...

    The Hallows

Well, I finished it in a day. I'm reserving what I want to say though. Mainly because I read it so quickly that I want to read it again - and all the others too.

You really couldn't expect Harry Potter fever to come round and for it to pass me by and not have me say anything about it!

Bear in mind that I still have yet to see OoTP - more due to illness than anything. I still really want to see it - so hopefully this weekend!

Anyway, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was brilliant. I loved it. The epilogue I loved not so much - but the rest of the book was awesome. It does depress me that it's all over, but I guess we'll always have the fans - and boy are there a lot of fans! The thing I love about the books is that you can re-read them over and over again.

Naturally the one couple I was rooting for never eventuated but I was resigned to that fact anyway. I knew that it wouldn't happen. Still, can't blame a girl for dreaming :)

Anyway, I will make a more coherent entry when I read the book again. Either that or when I finally see the movie. Which - I have no doubt, will be eclipsed by the release of the Simpsons this weekend.

    Which, incidentally:

    I Simpsonized myself :)

    Sense of it all

After about a million bazillion cryptic entries I have decided that it might be nice to actually make some sense once in awhile.

Work has been average. The call centre environment is not the best for one recovering from the flu - this I have decided after one and a half days back at work. It's just so enclosed and very often I feel like there's no fresh air what so ever. (Which is also true when people smell bad...but that's another story!) It's not been particularly busy, but I've kind of been taking my time this week any way. Head's too stuffy for much else!

I have a job interview tomorrow. I refuse to get my hopes up about this one. The last couple of interviews I've had have been for nothing anyway. It's an advertising copy controller/writer job - which sounds all very interesting. The lady I spoke with seemed nice, hopefully seeing as how I have good grasp of grammar etc I will make a pleasing impression.

I'm so sick of Officemax and the management. Not all the management, just some of the management. That and the fact you can actually be fantastic at what you do, work your ass off and still have nothing to show for it.

Have also applied for a graphic design position at Untouched World. They emailed today wanting some examples of my work - also a positive sign I think. Not that I have a huge portfolio. But it's something at least that they're interested.

Yes, things are on the up. Btw - Lynda's website is live. Check it out! Especially if you need a wedding photographer :) I am especially proud of it.

    Also...this is surprisingly catchy :)

    Krumping :)

    I wish I could krump!!!

    You're my lobster

I always feel like such a fake calling in sick to work.

As it stands I have been sick for exactly a week.

The doctor reckoned that I had the flu right around the time my temperature hit 38.8 degrees celcius.

And I have been exhausted ever since.

I cannot wait till I feel 100% again :P I hate ringing work every morning.

I don't want to seem bitchy. Really, I don't. But there are certain things that I don't like and certain people that I don't like.

So why is she persisting in getting in touch with me/people around me? Why? It feels a little like some sort of punishment...

Or a little like running a cheese grater against your skin. Or a chalkboard.

    *shudder*

Maybe I should just suck it up and get over it.

Oh, but I don't want to. I don't think we'll ever be friends...

    Transformers

I figure that seeing the movie twice gives me the right to talk about it like I know all about Transformers - which I don't really, I remember watching the cartoons as a kid, but my memory retention of ANYTHING from when I was a kid is pretty poor.

I love this movie. I eagerly await the DVD release (even though it's only been out all of 3 weeks...) just so I can own it - and all the associated special features - on DVD. The thing I love about this flick is the fact that it just didn't take itself too seriously. Transformers has always had a pretty far fetched plotline at best, lets be honest it's a program based on a range of toys put out by Hasbro!

    The special effects were awesome.

I mean, hello? Check out Megatron. Wicked cool. Plenty of action for the boys and a decent enough story line to keep the girls happy. There's even a love interest! I even enjoyed the product placement. Mainly because it was so damned shameless. I figure that the General Motor Company basically sponsored the entire movie. Them and HP.

Although I was amused that around the time of the world's satellite communications basically dying all the Hewlett Packard machines were just about useless but the iMac brought in by Sector 7 guy was still going strong.

If the phone lines had been up and running the HP call centre in India would have been bombarded with complaints. The answer is, as it always has been, to buy Apple.

Shia LeBeouf does well in this movie. He's grown up since Holes and to score a part in a blockbuster like this just goes to prove that he's going to do well for himself in the future. Plus, he basically saves the day - so that makes him a hero in my eyes! AND he gets the girl. Score one point for nerds all across the world!

The entire cast were tight and the movie wasn't just all action adventure, it was funny to boot! I had to laugh when Captain Lennox was getting pissy at the operator on the other end of the line while trying to make an emergency pentagon call. That is my life - minus the nose picking - just about every day!!!

    No, I'm not kidding!

Also...does this mean that if I ever need to get hold of the Pentagon I just pick up the phone get the operator and they'll transfer me through?

Perhaps it's best we don't think about it too much.

And while we're speaking of Captain Lennox - whoar is Josh Duhamel ever HOTTT. Yes, he deserves the three 'T's. The second time around the movie was all the better for the eye candy.

THAT and the fact that I now know that Optimus Prime was voiced by the original voice actor. How's that for continuity!

    Bring on Harry Potter!!

    Life in the office trenches

To the customer who didn't actually know her name - or, was incredibly obtuse. I kid you not the conversation actually went like this:

Me: And who am I speaking with today?
Extremely thick customer: Today? I...errr...I don't know.
    Me: ????? -.-*

She actually thought I'd been speaking with someone in the company earlier in the day (at this stage it was 9.30am!) and wanted to know their name.

Because that's LOGICAL. This is what I mean by stupidity at work - it's not just my co-workers!!!

I was freaking out yesterday because Isaac had taken the car into the mechanics and they quoted us $550 (EXCLUDING gst!!) to get the oil leaks fixed and the cambelt changed. On top of that they told him that sometimes with work like what we required done you probably needed the water pump changed and we should do it at the same time because if it broke it would damage the engine. For that, they quoted another $100-200.

Grand total: $731.25 (IF the water pump cost $100)

I was actually on the verge of saying I should just SELL the damned thing and buy a new one.

Anyway, Isaac went out for coffee with his friend who is a mechanic last night. Basically everything that the mechanics told us was a crock. Isaac's friend can do the job that they quoted for $200. WHICH IS BASICALLY LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE!!!

    TAKE THAT BECKENHAM AUTO!!!!

ALSO...as it turns out what they said about the water pump was a load of bullsh*t. Apparently they should have been able to look at the pump and basically tell if it would need replacing or not. Isaac's friend looked at the pump - in the DARK, with his cellphone as light - and said that it wouldn't need replacing at all.

It actually makes me wonder how much money the damned mechnics are making. Apparently they charge for parts at RETAIL price and then on top of that make like $100 an hour. They were also going to take TWO DAYS to fix it. Isaac's friend said that my model of car was one of the easiest to fix.

It makes me grumpy. If Isaac hadn't had coffee with his friend we would have probably ended up shelling out close to $800 for the car. $800 that we can't really afford thanks to having to go overseas at the end of the year. (Well, we don't have to go, but it's a family reunion - so we should!)

I hate being a grown up - everything seems to cost money! Petrol, rent, buying a new car (which hopefully we will do tonight - and then we will have two cars and be able to save money on petrol!), food, the list goes on...

It would be nice if my parents paid for everything again...

Michael sent this round today. It's funny, click it!!!

    Over it :P

The stupidity of people at work never ceases to amaze me...

It's actually the most frustrating thing ABOUT work - that and the extremely stupid customers. I just can't believe some of the people we've hired in the last couple of inductions.

Don't get me wrong, MOST of them are all right. But SOME of them...I don't know why we pay them. I don't know how the heck they can take SO long to manage simple calls. It just doesn't make sense to me.

That and the stupid questions that turn up in team meetings.

It's just a waste of my time...

    Constantly Amazed

Look at how small the people are!!!

And how blue the sky is...

How well formed the dew is...

    How good the berries taste...

    And just...

    How freaking cold it is!!!

I wish it would snow already!!!

    Sunday, July 8

    Is winter over yet???

My window in my room is iced over (on the INSIDE) and my photo blocks - which lean against the window - are frozen TO the window.

I don't remember it being this cold last year.

I still can't feel my hands!!!

This much cold weather is DE-pressing. *sigh*

At least one reason not to buy a japanese car

Jem's been having car troubles lately. Firstly with the alarm - to the point where he had to immobilise the whole engine in the H-mall carpark and then walk home because it kept going off.

The AA fixed it (bless their hearts) but now it keeps flashing up with a little warning message on the dash:

Like so. Which is helpful if we could only discern what it means. I offered to translate (before actually seeing what it said) but first year Japanese can only take you so far!!!!

Isaac suggested online translation - which was "interesting" to say the least. Near as I can tell the three kanji on their own mean: "Liquid", "not" and "enough". Which is only semi-helpful. I mean, what liquid is not enough. It's a car! It could be ANYTHING.

With the help of a little copy and pasting I managed to get the phrase into babelfish only to have it translated "ウオツ plain gauze liquid insufficiency".

Which doesn't actually make sense. We have compromised and have decided that it mean that the brake fluid was out.

    So...unless anyone knows better...???
