    Life is crazy

Yet another website has been mysteriously blocked at work. If they keep this up I will have nowhere left to surf!!

This week = incredibly busy. But mainly with social rather than non-social engagements. Last night was our big final flat tea. We went to Lonestar - the first time we'd been to the new one that has taken the place of Cobb and Co in Riccarton. There was a bit of a wait - but we had drinkies at the bar to tide us over. PLUS we all got some super good news whilst waiting so it was not all in vain - one of our really good friends is ENGAGED!!!!

Awesome eh? Another wedding to look forward too! And I'm just super-excited/happy for them because they are awesome and he is an awesome, awesome guy! YAY!!!

Anyway...food was really really good and there was WAY too much of it. AND we had presents. Well, me and Janina did because it is our birthday week. Jem, Jen and Trace got me this awesome retro T-shirt with Rainbow on it AND a really cool-looking bottle of wine that is called "Cat Pee on a Gooseberry Bush" and it is FUNKY. Plus the proceeds go to the SPCA so that's good! Don't know how the wine tastes as yet but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Anyway, out again tonight - so Thursday will be my first night in ALL week. And I will be spending it packing. Yay...the only good thing is that according to my countdown I only have 9 working days (not including today) left to go for this year!!! Of course I have to squeeze two weddings, a work do and party in the park in between all those work days so I'm pretty sure I'll keep busy!!!

    Busy, busy...

    Good Pie Party

I hate the way you feel after a night of semi-debauchery. ("Debauchery" always makes me think of Wimbledon when Paul Bettany serves Kirsten Dunst breakfast in bead...) You always feel so gross and semi-tired and your stomach seems just on the verge of revolt because it's hungry but it doesn't want normal breakfast foods, it wants coffee and something ridiculously bad for you.

The Pie Party...in the words of Borat, was a "great success!"

After all the worrying that not a lot of people would come the place was packed out...it is SUCH a tip right now. Haha, lucky for us Trace volunteered to clean up. The kitchen is literally full with unwashed dishes.

Jem, Grant and their girly midori ;)

We were so tiddly...was hard to get everyone to stay still for the photo!

At least they're all facing the right way now ;)

One with me in...check out the new hair!!!
Okay, it's quite hard to tell from the photo...)

Us trying for "Super Cheese" (New hair!!!)

    Being a bit silly...

Not entirely sure what Mel did here but the effect is really cool haha!

Close up of Amy ;) I love HER hair...hehe

This is the best one...I do look like a HUGE dork in it though!

What the boys were doing while we were taking hundreds of photos of ourselves!
(Louis is wearing Isaac's jersey for some reason...)

Was a REALLY good night, plus we scored a whole lot of beer and half a bottle of Lindauer and half a bottle of (real) wine as well. Not really what we intended as we were planning on clearing the place out of food. But I guess alcohol is different! Haha...sadly Grant did not leave the midori behind....

But the wine punch was awesome. I will have to buy more of that mix again sometime :) Perhaps will bring it overseas with me...

Anyway, should probably go get dressed or something. Is Isaac's dad's birthday today and we need to go shopping for a present! We're so disorganised!!

    Randoms

Quiz night last night was fun. Our asses got KICKED but that's okay...I think I knew in my heart that we weren't going to win. Still, nice times with our team!

Ended up going with the entire flat to Zanzibar in Merivale after. Met up with Ben from work and some for his friends there. Nice place. Felt extremely fancy to be drinking in Merivale. Way posher than my usual hang outs. (The Clock Tower - haha....) Had a VERY good vodka cranberry - $7.50 - but that's okay. Not like I was drinking in excess.

Anyway, on the way out who should we run into but Sal, Ben and Michelle!!! Of all the random coincidences. Ben was trashed off his face, which lent some amusement to the whole proceedings. Especially when he went to find other Ben at the bar next door, walked over, turned back to face us as whispered (exaggeratedly, of course) "There's ANOTHER bar here!!!"

    HAHAHA!!!

Up early AGAIN. Pie party today, so I have a carrot cake to ice and a cheesecake to make. And a hair appointment at 11am...ugh. Why do I do these things to myself! Also, can't be assed making myself breakfast. But have had coffee. Perhaps this accounts for the speed of my typing....lol

    Excited

There is a job in the paper that I really want. It's for The Press. But I was humming and haaing about whether or not to apply because really I couldn't start work till the end of January.

Isaac thought that I should just do it anyway.

Then I also showed it to Jem at breakfast today.

I'm applying to his uncle!!! Haha...what a randomly small world!!!

This still doesn't mean that I'll get it. But it's still quite funny. It does make me want the job more though. I've even met his uncle! And been over to his place when Jem's been house-sitting.

Jem said that I should go to the interview and say: "I've been in your spa..." in an ominously threatening voice.

    Funny...lol.

    End of an era

We have to move in two weeks. I keep putting it off. Well...I'm not putting the moving off. But I am putting the packing off.

It just seems like a huge effort. We've been here just 6 months short of two years...and we have accumulated a CRAPLOAD of stuff while we've been here. Packing it all up just seems like a big job and I don't want to start.

Plus, I need to sort through my stuff and decide on what I can live without for the next two months or so. Fun, fun. Basically, I will be in transition from the end of next week till February...which is not fun, as all I'll want to be is settled. But these things can't be helped I guess.

It does look as though the place we were interested in might fall through though. Which is also a pain because it means we'll have to go through the rigmarole of finding a place and signing yet another lease and coughing out for another bond.

    Also can't be helped though.

Ah well...work time. Can worry about all this later!

    car troubles

I'm such a dick...A dick who obviously can't drive properly!!! I was having a really good day, out of the house by 10am...

Although that wasn't me being productive. Stupid landlord didn't tell us he was bringing someone round to look at the place at 10am till yesterday afternoon. Dumbass. And there's another group coming round in the afternoon which means I have to vacate YET AGAIN as I am the only one home.

But I digress. I even made it thorough ALL the tasks I had appointed myself...go get car registration renewed, buy veges from Raeward, do the flat shopping etc. And then, just as I'm backing out of the carpark - damn you Hornby Mall and your poor carpark design! - in a HURRY I might add, as there is someone waiting for my park and someone else coming the other way...I back into someone else.

    Crunch!!!!

I was really, REALLY hoping to get through this year with no more car trouble. I hate car trouble. Plus, we've had a real spate of car trouble recently. What with Isaac needing a new alternator and then his stereo died, Jem's alarm dying and refusing to let him in the car and then he rear-ended someone AND the radiator died...

But this is also a digression. Now I have to pay AMI a visit and I hate visiting them. They're always so rude!! The call centre people are nice and friendly and I don't mind dealing with them - but their customer service people in store are pains...that and my excess is $500 and I'm POSITIVE it will cost less than that to fix as the damage (to my car at least) isn't THAT bad.

Argh. I hate car troubles. And this time I have NO ONE to blame except myself.

    Musing

It's funny how one little thing can change your perspective on something.

The trick is not to let it get to you.

Sometimes it feels like the grass is greener somewhere else. But the truth is that it's not.

Edit: The grass is never greener! Neverrrr!!! What a weird day yesterday was :P

    Wedding :)

I'm exhausted. The weekend honestly felt longer that the week that had precceded it. Which was pretty damn amazing considering that the week had been insanely busy and crazy.

Anyway, the wedding on Saturday was just gorgeous! I woke up SO SO early, I must be mad. What was even worse was that I woke up and heard RAIN. Which of course meant that I wouldn't be sleeping again because I was quite concerned that it would just pour down and be a disaster!

But...it wasn't. We picked up the cake without too much trouble - depsite all fears to the contrary! We did have to drive back a really long, convoluted way as Isaac was scared of bumping the cake in the boot! But we even managed to set it up ok, which was quite the achievement for us. But it really did take longer than we thought it would. Damn things were quite heavy!

Anyway...wedding would not be awesome and complete without photos:

Me and the totally hot wedding outfit :)

The oh so hot bride entering the church! (I bawled like a baby...)

    Vows :)

    Singing the last song :)

Married and smiling for the camera...awww!!!

Ross being a dork at the reception :P

Look you can see the cake behind us!

We are incredibly hot and we know it!

    The first dance!!!

    Jo & Mel :)

Dancing again...Lou looks much less formal now!

    Nacho Nighters take two :)

    They are so cute!!!

    Or are they? Haha...

ANNND...my favorite photo of the night:

All aboard the dance train!!!! Hahaha

After today it makes me feel so much better to be reliving the wedding! *sigh*

    Squeee!

I'm so excited about the weekend. Basically, the wedding that will henceforth by known as "the wedding of the year" - to me at least - is happening TOMORROW!!!!

    YAY!!!!!!

(I'd say "wedding of the century" but I hope to get married sometime this century so I'd like that to be my wedding of the century.)

It's an excuse to dress up, look pretty and party the night away. That and I'm insanely, insanely happy for the happy couple!! It's going to be so awesome and I already know that I'm going to cry. I've listened to the "walking down the aisle song" many, many times these last couple of weeks.

Besides, it's not often that two people that you've known for years and years and years get married. Awesome.

Isaac has basically finished exams. He has one more a week from tomorrow. It's nice having him around again, I was missing him. And also missing someone to drive me around.

    I am a horrible girlfriend :)

Also...am very happy as igoogle has finally updated with new themes! Yay, I now have little raccoons with leafblowers on my page.

Work has been hectic and crazy and I wish so badly that I could quit sometimes! But no, all that will happen next year (fingers crossed!) meanwhile, the time in which we leave for the far corners of the globe - and much warmer weather! - draws ever nearer. I can't wait. I need a holiday of more than a couple of days in which I can sleep in.

Of course this means a lot of packing as we also have to move in approx three weeks. I have packed all my winter bedding into boxes. This is so far my only concession to moving. But then, I haven't really had time to do anything else!

And now am waiting and waiting for Jem to get home so I can drop him off at the panelbeater....

    The ongoing saga of petrol

I'm trying to not spend too much money until payday next week.

I put $10 worth of petrol in my car yesterday. It got me 5 litres. FIVE. That's just ridiculous!!!!

Petrol prices need to go down...

    Girls night!

We had a girls night/hen's night for Mel on the weekend. VERY fun times :) Also since we dressed her up in this crazy "tricorn" veil thingie! Hehehe...and there was a lot of booze. Perhaps a little too much!

Our cars convoying out to Victoria Park

Trace is VERY asian...and way too cool for photos!

Food and VERY hot chicks, what more do you want?

    More beautiful girls... :)

Then it got darker and the champagne was flowing...

So much so that when Mel was asked to pose as the Statue of Liberty she did this...

    Much better!

    We are dorks!

Me and Mel...I am not half as boozed as I look!

It was awesome fun! The best idea to have a night just us before the big wedding next week. I cannot believe it's next week! It feels like we've been waiting for this day forever!

    Ugh

Every so slightly hung over :P But look, new virals!!!

    Mmm....Absolut :)

    Baking

The product of TWO hours of baking. Don't look at the large cupcakes in the left corner, they are not well iced as I was running out of icing!

Mmmm...banana walnut cupcakes with chocolate rum icing. I would say yummy but I haven't actually tried one yet! I have 32 big ones and 12 mini ones.

Mini-cakes with hundreds and thousands!!! Yay! All this baking is in lieu of Melsy's hen's night tonight. Should be FUN times. We even have semi-dodgy presents for her. Funny what you find out in the big wide world!!!!

Anyway, they'd better taste good otherwise a vast quantity of my time this afternoon will have been wasted!!!!

I have this MASSIVE bruise on the back of my leg. It is HUGE and I don't know how or when I got it - but it's just starting to turn yellowish. I seem to be injuring myself in my sleep as this is the third such bruise I have discovered mysteriously appearing on my person in the past week or two. AHHH!!!

    Growing up

I was suddenly struck today - as I occasionally am - by this feeling of OLDNESS. Which is this slightly weird moment of wondering when the heck I grew up.

You know, for so long I was a kid and then a teenager, it's weird to be responsible for your rent, food, power, internet, telephone bill and finances. Even weirder to be talked about as "this lady" when in stores.

Sometimes I just feel like I'm playing at being a grown up. Like I'm a big kid trapped in a grown up's body. But that's not true either is it? Because for the most part I like being a grown up. I do hate the money woes though. It's like there's never enough.

And all the responsibility and the baggage that we pick up along the way.
